Dubrovnik – Split, stopping in Ston
Ston is an hour out of Dubrovnik and right on the road to Split. Stopping there costs little extra time and splits a three-hour drive in a good place.
Spend the stop on the walls or over a plate of oysters in Mali Ston. Then we cross the Pelješac Bridge and carry on up the coast to your address in Split.

The stops
Ston
The walls climb the hill above the town and were built to guard the salt pans, which still produce salt. Allow about an hour for the walk.
Mali Ston
A small bay with a few restaurants serving local oysters and mussels. Lunch here is the usual plan.
Pelješac Bridge
No stop here, but look out of the window as we cross: the bridge spans the bay between Pelješac and the mainland.
Good to know
It works the other way too, from Split to Dubrovnik. If you have a table booked in Mali Ston, send the time.
